BnBs a legitimate business

Here are some facts about how we operate, which hopefully will clarify how we differ from non-licensed vacation rental facilities.

The CBVBBA has existed since 1994 and is comprised of voluntary membership of licensed B&B owners who operate in accordance with the bylaws of both the Town of Canmore and the province of Alberta. Requirements include, but are not limited to:

Carry B&B liability insurance for accidental injury, etc.

Have all business license and permits as required by the Town of Canmore (food establishment permit, business registry and development permit)

Inspected by the regional health authority.

Adhere to fire and safety regulations, which include yearly maintenance of fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, night lighting, escape routes, strict window sizing, and bedroom fire ladders if needed.

Provide off-street parking for our guests.

We are proud to state that we are licensed, inspected, and contribute financially to the Town of Canmore via business permits. We strive to be very cognizant and respectful of our neighbours who allowed a B&B establishment to be licensed in their neighbourhoods (we don’t permit loud parties).

We are knowledgeable about our community and co-operatively refer our guests to local businesses. We strive to provide the best “truly local” amazing, unique experience for each guest we host, which is well reflected on our online reviews.

Carol Poland, 2017 President of CBVBBA
