Canmore needs trail

I’m over it.

I’m over it. We cannot simply deny and kill every project in this town because of a small group of eco-bullies who spread lies and manipulate information to serve their own purposes when thoughtful planning happens to bring community-oriented projects forward that respond to the balanced interests and needs of a large number of residents.

Some of us are uncomfortable speaking out because we know they’re going to slam us, criticize us and bully us. The Quarry Park project is not a destination trail. It is not a flow trail. It is laughable to call it a bike park – for those uninformed souls calling it a bike park; it’s 110 per cent not so.

This project is a short trail with almost no grade that will be created to solve many problems with a great community philosophy and will respond to countless points of research identifying this as a need.

It will support the interests of thousands of community residents. This small trail was approved back in December and needs to proceed. It aligns to solid plans (Open Space & Trails and Recreational Master Plan) so please council, don’t be swayed by a loud and small group that changes facts to serve their own purposes and has never come out in support of anything new and beneficial for our community.

I’m sure they’re guilting you too. Please don’t change your mind on a project that’s been thought through and will “do good.” Canmore needs to be allowed to progress, especially with such a no-brainer project.

Chris McKechnie,

Canmore
