Our town is graced by an excellent trail system, much appreciated by locals and visitors alike.
It is a delight to see so many families cycling with their small children. How much this situation has improved over the last 20 years.
Recently, the Town is stepping up our cycling agenda, for the better.
Should we not continue on this sensible movement by:
Restricting vehicle speed to 30 km/h in the very core of Town – say Railway Avenue to the Bow Bridge.
Installing speed bumps at specific locations such as on 10th Street and Sixth Avenue.
Our main street is slowly accepting that pedestrians should have priority on vehicular traffic – 30 km/h seems to make sense, with the new acceptance of bicycles.
Once the above is the norm, the next obvious acceptance will be for a pedestrian main avenue, which will bring social discourse in the very heart of our special town.
