While it’s laudable the developer of “a fancy new 172-room hotel on the 300 block of Banff Avenue” will save the Leacock Heritage home and “incorporate it into the courtyard of a new three story hotel,” I judge the resultant mess a crime against humanity constituting massive offset against everything the local high school is doing with solar energy down the road to decrease the human carbon footprint on this planet.

For a developer to be able to mow down and discard “two other homes and three motels” to make room for another unnecessary monstrosity – not having to recycle one stick of it – with nothing more than a demolition permit and disposal fee at the landfill in hand, to account for the action in this time of runaway climate change and concern for the environment in general is simply unforgiveable.

Those who sanction such travesties have blood on their hands too and should be jointly ashamed.
