Development or exploitation?

Editor: It appears Canmore council believes more growth and development is a good thing. We are already experiencing more traffic congestion and lack of parking to handle tour buses, motorhomes, motorcycles and boats.

We are already experiencing more traffic congestion and lack of parking to handle tour buses, motorhomes, motorcycles and boats.

Are Canmore residents prepared for less services in the areas of health, dental, policing, fire and rescue, animal protection, gas stations and so on?

Stores always seems short staffed and more pressure is put on employees to fill in the shortages.

Wildlife is under siege having to deal with more people and dogs off leash.

More students, more daycare spaces are needed, more cyclists are on our roads and trails and more hikers on the paths. Does it follow that more and more people means quality of life?

We are at a point now, in Canmore, where our existing quality of life, and that of our wildlife, is in jeopardy. What makes Canmore a community with certain values is being eroded by materialism and greed.

It is pure exploitation of what we hold dear in the Bow Valley. We are a mountain town, not Disneyland or Las Vegas.
