Disappointed with school reference

I was very surprised to read Mr. Remppel’s last sentence in his letter last week suggesting council take a crash course at Foothills Academy in Calgary.

Why he would make such a remark is disheartening. It is obvious he has absolutely no idea what this school is all about. It is one of the first charter schools in operation in Calgary and yes, it is a school for children with learning disabilities. It is one of the best schools for children with ADD, ADHD, etc. It has saved the lives of many children who would have never have had the chance in a regular school program.

Children come from all over North America to attend the school, some for free, as it is a pay what you can afford school. Families uproot to get their kids in there, it is worth it.

While I am sure council would benefit from the wisdom they may gain from such an institution, I doubt very much it would be accepted into the program.

On the other hand, maybe Mr. Remppel would benefit from spending a little more time researching the subject before he slanders a great school such as this or, for that matter, our town council who have stepped up to serve.

He seems to know what is best, in all subjects; a jack of all trades, master of nothing. Hindsight is 20:20. Put your money where your mouth is Dieter and step up and run.
