Do seniors count?

From what I understand, the population of seniors is growing in Canmore, but regardless, we are living longer. When Elevation Place was built, there was initially to be no climbing wall.

It took regular community members months to have their voices heard over smaller, more vociferous, groups that had their needs ahead of the majority. We also previously saw this during the revamp of the hockey rinks.

We had a chance to put a walking track in Elevation Place and did not. Let’s do the right thing and put one in the old centre.

Take a look on the internet and you will see that 90 per cent of new facilities going up include a walking track. This will attract seniors to our community as well as keep them active and in their homes longer.

So why not take a serious look at this, and not just say it is too late, or expensive. Or, perhaps add one to Elevation Place.
