How many elk does it take to endanger people’s lives and die on Highway 1 between Elk Run Boulevard (hmmm, curious the name of that street), and the Three Sisters exit before an over- or underpass is built?
I felt compelled to write after an evening drive into Canmore when I saw elk grazing in between the busy lanes. I flashed my lights furiously at the oncoming traffic.
On the morning drive back to Banff the same spot brought a much different scene, as a baby elk lay dead, having clearly been hit by a vehicle.
I realize there are different pockets of money with different amounts, held by different agencies, but surely a place as progressive and wealthy as the Bow Valley could get it together to collaborate and get one of those world-renowned structures built. Maybe even in a shorter time frame than the Town had its new branding completed.
