Enough whining already

Editor: Almost every week someone writes a letter whining about how they got a photo radar ticket and it’s so unfair. Some say they are excellent drivers and can safely drive faster than the speed limit.

Some say they are excellent drivers and can safely drive faster than the speed limit. Others even say that speed isn’t a contributing factor in vehicle accidents. They should review their Grade 9 physics.

Have you been downtown lately? Does anyone really think going faster is going to help? I think photo radar has greatly improved driving in Canmore. Before photo radar, people used to drive 100 km/h on Benchlands Trail.

If you get caught speeding you are breaking a law. Laws are part of living in a civilized society. If you want to do whatever you feel like, there are plenty of places in the world where there is anarchy and you can drive as fast as you like.

You can also save some money on insurance – because no one will have it, either.

We are so lucky to live in Canada, and especially Canmore. Look at the rest of the world for a few minutes and maybe you will appreciate some law and order, and even photo radar.
