Get on a bike and see

Yes, the Town of Canmore may finally be getting on the page by providing some cycling infrastructure, but it’s a far cry from being a bike-friendly community. Even when motorists appear to obey the rules of the road, they can be a complete menace to cyclists.

I can’t count the times I’ve been crowded into the gutter or cut off completely. And certain busy stretches of road are just plain dangerous, like Railway Avenue in front of Elevation Place.

So I will continue to hop onto the sidewalk at times for safety, or even run a light or stop sign to get off our roads as quickly as possible. I encourage you to trade your car seat for a bike seat more often; it will give you a better appreciation of what cyclists deal with in Canmore.

You’ll find it really is a two way street.
