Good work on housing work

Kudos to councillors and others who have been working hard to develop affordable housing in the downtown core.

The old daycare site has long been discussed as a suitable and beautiful location to provide some higher density/lower-cost housing within walking distance of all amenities.

I believe it was around 2000 when local design companies (including myself) and the town (spearheaded by Lisa De Soto) met to discuss the potential for the site. Although Palliser and the Three Sisters perpetually affordable housing (PAH) projects were built to try and address affordable housing shortage in Canmore, they were not as suitable sites due to issues with accessing amenities via high-speed highways and lack of public transportation.

Kudos also to Lloyd Evans, who has long worked to provide the community with the ice rink. It has been a pillar in the community. It is important that whatever is planned for the site includes this important feature. My family has enjoyed this rink many times.

Thanks Lloyd. Keep up all the good work everyone.

Mari Ann Allan,
