How about tourism training?

Re: Staff accommodation in Canmore I find it somewhat ironic that students wishing to study various educations in hospitality and tourism (cooking, sommelier, etc.) study in Calgary where there is no real staff shortage, meanwhile here in the hub of hospitality and tourism there is no campus to study at and yet we have a staff shortage that is apparently becoming dire, according to a recent article.

Why wouldn’t Canmore look into incentives to bring a satellite campus (perhaps SAIT?), including dormitories, into the Bow Valley and solve two problems at once? (They could limit the education offered to hospitality and tourism thereby limiting the land required for the facility to the bare minimum necessary).

And isn’t it obvious from commentary at recent candidates’ forums that youth are suffering from high unemployment rates and high student debt? Seems to me they would be more inclined to take these jobs if they were studying here anyway and they would likely stay for a minimum of two years.

Also, it would save local residents from yet another increase in taxes because the university or college invited to Canmore would foot the bill instead.
