Paid parking in the Town of Banff will create additional revenues for the Town which will ultimately result in reduced property taxes for residents and businesses (how that money is subsequently used is an entirely separate can of worms).
When the majority of trips around town by residents do not actually require a car in the first place, residents are effectively paying for a non-essential service that they do not even require most of the time.
Therefore, I would humbly recommend that the “Banff Residents Against Paid Parking” change their moniker to “Banff Residents Against Tax Savings.”
