I’m writing to express my support for council’s commitment to informed decision making.
Pay parking is a contentious issue and I’ve heard many strong assumptions about the trial implementation as well as the anticipated, but untested, results. With so many diverse opinions, it is challenging to meet expectations and I don’t envy council’s position.
However, because of the potential impact of this decision, I believe it is imperative to gather key facts as well as consulting experienced professionals, following due process, and listening to residents, so that council is prepared to make the best decision for our community.
I appreciate that the information gathered during the trial will give council more facts to decide whether pay parking of any kind is a viable management tool for our community.
It takes leadership, in the face of controversy, to seek all the facts needed to make informed decisions.
