We were surprised the dam on Cougar Creek has been approved by council members.

This has been tried in the past and failed. A more cost effective solution would be to fix the constrictions on the creek formed by the bridges. The small funnels of the bridges contribute to a “Venturi Effect” and counter current, causing the flow of the creek to speed up and take out the banks.

The small bridges do not match the creek and actually form dams. Shouldn’t the bridges be made larger to correspond to the size of the creek? Just look at the photos of the raging creek where it took out the banks at Eagle Terrace.

Shouldn’t we also be getting expert advice from more sources? Other engineers, hydrologists, etc? As well as an environmental study of the wildlife corridor which will be cut off by the dam.

The Bow River threatens more homes and businesses and needs to be considered as well.
