Keep Canmore local

I’m seeing more and more civic jobs going to out-of-towners. Why are we lining the pockets of people who are not stimulating our economy?

I was working at Banff Boundary Lodge when Elevation Place was being built and talked to many of the tradesmen that were staying there who not only had their rooms paid for, they were also being given a per-diem for daily food costs, and all of them were from out of province.

The same goes for the recent Main Street project. Professional Excavators is a Calgary-based company. These jobs should be going to companies like BECL, but they are being outbid.

Canmore has such an over-inflated market that not even the Town of Canmore can afford to hire its own people. This town is becoming less and less affordable and the ones with the power to change that are giving our money to people who can afford to work for less.

What is this town going to look like when the residents who work in the service, hospitality, and trades industries can’t afford to live here? Are the millionaires going to work for the billionaires?
