LETTER: Clean Up After Your Dog

In the community of Dead Man’s Flats, and River’s Bend, we are blessed with a wonderful path and trail system along Pigeon Creek and in the forest close to the Bow River. It is a great place to walk your dog, and residents and visitors alike are welcome to enjoy them.

What I don’t welcome is the unclaimed dog poop that is littering the trails. And now, with the warmer weather, they are turning into mushy and smelly piles of yuck, which I’m sure you would not want your dog or kid to step in.

Forgot your poop bag?

No problem; there are bag dispensers and garbage containers in several locations in the community.

Walking your dog at night?

Have a flashlight or headlamp and keep your dog on its leash. Dead Man’s Flats is not an off leash area, and the fine is $100. The fine for unclaimed poop is $250.

Of course, it’s hard to catch anyone in the act, and if you walk your dog here, and you are reading this, you know who your are.

Please, be respectful, and clean up after your dog.

Georgianne Dwyer,

Dead Man’s Flats
