It was interesting to read recent letters to the editor. A cyclist complaining about drivers, a driver complaining about cyclists and then an astute letter about the need for respect for one another.

Travelling through central Canmore has become like driving through a minefield. A driver needs to watch for other – sometimes distracted – motor vehicles, jaywalkers, pedestrians at endless crosswalks and cyclists who are solely focused on their endpoint. It is a seemingly endless parade of “me first”.

While there are traffic laws in place, it appears this town has chosen to not enforce them. The result appears to be anger at “the-other group”. It also seems to be a stretch for people to respect other people, have some common sense and courtesy. But, I forgot, it is all about me.

Marg Rees,

Canmore
