In response to Oppe Cosijn letter “Growth has led to negative human-wildlife interactions, not dogs off-leash” in the March 21 edition of the Outlook, my dog particularly loves it when we get a nice downhill and she can run beside me as I squat down so we are at eye level.
You just need a dog who has some solid basic obedience and understands loose leash walking, a sledding harness for your dog and quick release harness for yourself. With a little practice and training, any dog can ski with their owner on a leash and it is so much fun.
I have skied hundreds of kilometres with my dog – on leash.
