I’ve just learned that Canadian Blood Services finally lifted the restrictions that kept those of us who lived in Great Britain during the 'mad cow' years in the mid- to late-1980s from giving blood in Canada. It was almost 40 years later – that was a long wait.
I called Canadian Blood Services right away to book an appointment and they told me that the next couple of months were booked solid. Here is another way our community shines in its generosity. I'll have to elbow my way into this group of kind life-givers. I can't think of a better competition in which to participate. Wow, what a place to live. I am ever so grateful.
