I was recently in beautiful Lake Louise with my sister and 93-year-old mother from Ontario. Chateau Lake Louise has always been my favourite stop in the Canadian Rockies.

We were very frustrated and angry how Parks Canada has managed the parking situation at Lake Louise. My 93-year-old mother can walk a short distance, but certainly not from the parking lot to Chateau Lake Louise, which is a ridiculous distance. There were no shuttle busses which would have made the situation workable.

We tried going down to the guests only lane, but were stopped by a guard. My sister explained that our mother could not walk that distance and the guard announced they have valet parking for $65.

Well, no thank you. We went back to the Lake Louise Inn, which is a fine hotel. My sister and I swore we would never be back as long as Parks Canada maintains such a ridiculous parking concept.

They are costing Lake Louise business dollars. Maybe if the locals revolt someone will listen.
