I am happy to see both sides of the story were portrayed in the July 28 Outlook article on Valbella Gourmet Foods and the email sent by an employee.

The company certainly has a long history of caring deeply for the community. The article quoted an expert saying they must accept their mistake like it was a collective thing. There was a single person involved with a single episode – albeit a significant episode – within a company that has had a stellar relationship with the community and their vendors for many years. The person involved is no longer there and yet the community is trying and convicting the company on a social media platform that has gone viral.

The episode has been apologized for and it is time to move on. Valbella is now on the other end of the stick having hate emails sent their way. How is that any better than the first incident? How can the organizers of the event that started this whole thing point their fingers at someone else when they are doing the same thing?

It was in the news Sunterra Market also dropped Valbella as a supplier. I went to Sunterra last week and asked for some Valbella bacon. I was told there was a temporary recall on their products. To my knowledge there is no recall on the products, the company has dropped Valbella as a supplier and is not being honest with their customers about the reason.

One of the main issues here has been tolerance and understanding of minority groups and yet there is no tolerance or forgiveness for Valbella. How does one wrong move wipe out years of good business practice and the support of our community?
