I would like to thank Mr. Blair Richardson of Three Sisters Mountain Village Properties Limited for his open letter to Canmore in the Nov. 2 Outlook. I have always felt something lacking in Canmore is the position of feudal lord. Mr. Richardson seems to have ably stepped into that role with all its rights and privileges.

Mr. Richardson ably wields both the carrot and the stick. He reminds us to be grateful to him and his fellow investors for acting honourably and "doing the right thing for the people of Canmore" by paying the $10 million in liabilities his company owed to local businesses 23 years ago, while simultaneously holding over us the threat of $161 million dollars and his ability to "severely impact the financial stability of the town" today. Machiavelli would be proud.

Mr. Richardson also brings us back to the good ol' days of medieval times before this darned democracy. He reprimands the "immoral, unjust, and unethical" protestors who dared to exercise their civic rights by standing outside the residence of the Taylor family to express their opinions. Along with the efforts of our elected representatives on the Town council, it certainly is annoying when democracy and the legal processes of the land stand in the way of a benevolent wealthy few who know what is best for all of us.

I wish Mr. Richardson and the Taylor family all the best in their new positions and may they rule justly.

Jared Strand,

Canmore
