I don’t know who needs to hear this, but, my husband and I have lived in Canmore for nearly 25 years. We were debating the other day about whether there are more people who are less considerate in our community or if there were just more cars with locks that beep and people were oblivious to the noise that seems to be increasing at all hours.

Whether for professional or personal reasons, people come and go at different hours and car horns beeping can be a real problem, especially in multi-plex dwellings. Being woken up by your neighbours’ horn is completely preventable and it shouldn’t take a bylaw to reinforce it.

If you have a car and live in close proximity to others – which is almost everywhere in Canmore – disengaging your car lock horn won’t mean your car doesn’t lock, it will just mean that it won’t wake up your neighbours.

It is better to believe that most people seem to care about being good neighbours – whether they’re here for a season or a lifetime – than to conclude that we are living in a community that is increasingly being occupied by people who don’t care how their actions impact others.
