LETTER: Proper garbage removal important for wildlife

While I haven’t recently seen a bear at the nearest Town of Banff garbage dumpster, I expect wildlife will be habituated to the food source soon. To prevent this happening, I hope the Town will begin emptying them once or twice a day, 365 days per year.

Or, they could simply return at least half the dumpsters they removed over the past weeks and empty them once or twice a week as before.

The Town removed more than half the dumpsters in our high residential density area of Beaver Street, so most evenings garbage is piled on the ground around the dumpsters as there is absolutely no room inside. Perhaps the recycling dumpster for cardboard was also half filled with garbage? I have also seen pet poop bags, in neat piles, where dumpsters were just removed.

For the sake of our wildlife, I hope the Town can solve this situation soon.
