Kudos to Outlook photojournalist Jungmin Ham for her wonderful photos of the first Bow Valley Riding Association (BVRA) and Alberta Equestrian Federation (AEF) event Share the Trails on July 15.

The event, which was supported by the AEF through a grant from Alberta Public Lands, was the first of three AEF will run in Alberta this summer. It aimed to help educate equestrian and non-equestrian trail users on how to safely share public and multi-use trails and to increase awareness of horse use on the trails on the BVRA lease at Indian Flats and nearby benches.

Many hikers and climbers also park on the road that leads to the BVRA paddocks and Alpine Club of Canada, passing horseback riders heading out to the trails, and may not understand horses can be startled by off-leash dogs and humans wearing very large packs.

The AEF had a booth with information, giveaways, snacks, and drinks. We thank them for the partnership. We would also like to thank the Alpine Club of Canada, the Canmore and Area Mountain Biking Association, and Rundle Riders Therapeutic Riding Association, all of whom had booths at the event. Heather Gibb,

Canmore,

Bow Valley Riding Association
