LETTER: Thank you to a Good Samaritan

LETTER: We wanted to let everyone know about Doug and JK Bakery Cafe. With so much gloom and doom in the world, it’s nice to know we have many good folks living in our community.

On January 7 at our Banff residence, we got an unexpected knock on the door.

A young man with a huge smile on his face asked, “does Mrs. Stafford live here”? He graciously reached out and presented a lady’s purse and asked “this must be your mom’s”?

Dort’s – nickname for Dorothy – lost her purse back in September while shopping in Canmore. Although my mom is 90 years old, she is very active and her mind is sharp as a tack. She was extremely upset for three weeks.

It turns out the gentleman at our door was Doug, the owner of JK Bakery Café on Railway Avenue in Canmore.

The bakery staff had been cleaning behind a bench in the dining area and discovered mom’s purse.

Doug rushed to Banff to deliver the purse and the good news himself.

Everything was intact with her ID and credit cards and even $300 in cash was accounted for.

The smile on my mom’s face was exhilarating. She was simply ecstatic.

We wanted to let everyone know about Doug and JK Bakery Cafe. With so much gloom and doom in the world, it’s nice to know we have many good folks living in our community.

Barrie Stafford, on behalf of Dort Stafford,

Banff
