I visited my general practitioner Dr. Mark Hawkins and his nurse Pam on Jan. 5 for a prescription renewal and a few additional concerns. I did not even have time to sit down and Pam started my usual blood pressure check. Thank goodness they throw out the first reading. Yikes.

All my concerns were addressed and I was encouraged to see if the hospital could possibly take me for some unbooked tests. Within 30 minutes of being greeted by the screener, I was walking back out again, having had blood work and electrocardiography (EKG) completed.

Barely an hour had gone by since seeing my G.P. How extremely fortunate we are to have Canmore General Hospital in our town, run so efficiently by Barb Shellian and her team, and having such fabulous staff, within each and every department.

Kudos to each and every person who works in health care in Canmore. We are truly blessed.

Helen Read,

Canmore
