There’s good news and bad news. Congratulations to the Town of Canmore for increasing the size of the parking lot at Quarry Lake, it’s long overdue. On a weekend with dog walkers, picnickers and wedding guests, it can get pretty crowded.
Unfortunately, this past Sunday it was not enough; both parking areas were full to overflowing and there were many cars parked on highway 742.
I think it’s time for the powers that be in the Town to start co-ordinating with the province so that only one major event is held each weekend. And for the Town to give some consideration to residents and not block off major access roads to accommodate bike races.
