Editor: It is rather ironic that our mayor is telling us this story at the well endowed Bow Valley Builders and Developers Association meeting (can’t imagine they were eating rice and beans) and mentioning the fact that Canmore is the third wealthiest community in Canada.

Meanwhile, council is approving yet another controversial land development into the hands of developers so they can make more profit, along with real estate brokers who are blowing their horns in the national press about how much they are making selling huge dollar value properties to outside Canada clients.

All the while complaining about his kids and young folks not being able to buy housing.

Even long established residents who have seen costs go only up, against investments and salaries that only go down or remain the same, are having trouble maintaining the dream of living here.

The public keeps turning up and listening, even voicing opinions which are of course muted by the development and real estate people who are established within the boards and the council.

There has been far too much development initiated and profited from without any consideration for what your supposed tears and “watershed” comments are for, apparent affordable housing.
