Thank you very much for saying what I and I’m sure many others in town are thinking.

If all you residents opposed to any new construction are so worried about the loss of the “greenspace/park space” within their area of town, then by all means tear down your home and turn it back into the “greenspace” that it once used to be.

Or you can turn the other way and walk to the other park a half-block the other direction. Or maybe turn another way and continue walking to the other park or greenspace that is one block in that direction.

And don’t take this as a direct threat against your precious hockey rink that I’m sure won’t be an issue to save during this whole process if changed. Or even a questionable threat against our wildlife from losing another four acres of forest land when you are completely surrounded by it in our beautiful town.

Which doesn’t mean me, or any other proponent of affordable housing who wants to see every bit of greenspace or parks or forest to be torn down around us.

What we are asking for is the same thing that you already have, a nice home, in our chosen town to live in, while still being able to afford buying and living in it.

I am sure we can afford the four acres in Peaks or an unused site where a daycare used to reside until a couple years ago. Without losing too much of your precious park or greenspace in front or beside your house.

Instead of using the old daycare site to walk your dogs, try using Lions Park a block or two away or even Larch Islands and the river pathway almost directly behind the line of houses facing the old daycare site. It should be no different if you are already walking and responsibly picking up after your furry friend.
