Safety issues remain

While the review of the Spray Lakes Road enabled some upgrades to take place with respect to signage and barriers, the larger issue currently is the lack of consistent grading being done on the road.

As someone who lives on this road and drives it several times weekly, the lack of attention to it this summer has been disappointing. Alberta Transportation would be well served to take a drive down the road and experience the grapefruit-sized rocks, massive potholes, excess depth of gravel and general disrepair.

The endless flat and shredded tires and sliding around on the road to avoid the poor conditions should be considered just as unacceptable as the safety issues that were addressed.

Here is hoping for a little extra attention for our road and not just “safety” upgrades that were defined during the review from the tragic accident in late 2010. The current conditions are nowhere near acceptable.

Hoping for a little better....
