I have to agree with a recent post in the Calgary Herald from Mr. Don James (Carstairs, AB) re: “Cougar killer ‘made right decision,’” on Dec. 17.
Certainly, Canmore’s problems began long before last Sunday and someone else’s irresponsible behaviour led to the death of the two cougars.
The someone else(s) are indeed the residents of Canmore who import their lifestyles and behaviours from somewhere else into our landscape and don’t compromise their most obvious behaviours to reflect our wildlife’s fundamental needs.
Wildlife needs must take priority here.
Residents, self-police your behaviour. Council, I second the motion – please ban all pets from Canmore.
