Banff town council reverses paid parking, something that should never have taken place to begin with.

Councillor Karlos apologizes yet again for F-bomb. I’ve now seen him apologize numerous times including moments after it happened. I was only pointing out that if our mayor was a leader and had respect for her position, her council, her town and her townspeople she would have and should have demanded it.

But good on you, Stav, for manning up and apologizing.

I feel that this should be the beginning of a new era where hopefully the council actually listen to and take into account what 84 per cent of their voting populous wants.

Every person out there in our community needs to take a step back and look at a couple of major issues that have gone against the mass majority of the people.

Would you want a 150-person staff accom in your neighbourhood? I have asked many many people and not one has said yes.

If it does not belong in your neighbourhood would you want it in, or think it belongs in someone else’s neighbourhood? Again nobody I spoke with felt that they could justify destroying the Jackson, Gezers, Beatsons and the rest of the Beaver Street community or anyone elses for that matter.

You don’t want it in your neighbourhood, you don’t believe it should be in your friends, family’s, or our Beaver Street community, so I ask you, how would you vote if you were on council?

I know I would have voted it down. I dare say not one person in town I spoke with would have voted for it.

I think we are a level headed compassionate community and would think a 99 per cent plus would have voted against it on common sense alone.

Ask yourselves, now how on earth did it pass?

Like paid parking but worse, 80 per cent plus were against paid parking but they rammed it down your throats. I would say high 90 per cent plus against staff house issue but it goes through.

I feel council should call an emergency meeting on the grounds of conflicts of interest on the original approval board and kill this project. Stand behind what nearly 100 per cent of your citizens would want and would have done if they were sitting where you are.

Every local person needs to look at this objectively and get behind your friends and neighbours and colleagues as they would you if it was happening to you or your family.
