Summer stink is back

Editor: Oh, there it is. My, how I have missed you. I have not sensed you since last summer. If you are not sure what I am talking about, let me tell you. It is the Canmore stench.

Editor: Oh, there it is. My, how I have missed you. I have not sensed you since last summer.

If you are not sure what I am talking about, let me tell you.

It is the Canmore stench. Yes, here it is the summer and now we have the folk fest here in town and what do I smell? It is our sewage treatment plant smell.

What a great way to invite guests to our town and let them smell this. Tonight I have my windows open to bring in some cool air and all I am breathing in is the horrible smell of our sewage treatment plant or ponds.

Why do us townfolk have to endure this smell year after year? What can be done for this smell? This smell gives me headaches. I normally do not get headaches. I live downtown and this is one reason why I would like to move up higher, but I can’t.

So don’t get me started on the prices of rent or real estate in this town. If I cannot handle the smell of the sewage treatment plant or ponds, how does this look to our guests that come here for the summer to enjoy our views, lakes, streams, paths, river, climbing, biking, hiking, summer festivals, and whatever else they come to Canmore for?

It is about time that we make the smell go away to invite more guests to our town. I have heard many people comment on this over the years.

Is there a different additive that we can add to the sewage to make it smell better? If so lets look in to it: Febreze or Lysol just does not cut it. I can’t keep my windows closed all summer long.

Blair Epp,

Canmore
