Congratulations to the Bow Valley Regional Transit Services Commission and to the councils of both Canmore and Banff for extending Roam to Canmore.

A commuter system between Banff and Canmore has been talked about for at least 12 years – it’s great that it has finally come to be.

Roam has the potential of removing hundreds of vehicles driving between Banff and Canmore each day which would reduce CO2 and other air emissions.

One could argue that for $6 one-way (adult), it’s cheaper and more convenient to drive. However, keep in mind that driving your own car: is likely not cheaper after you add in maintenance/insurance; isn’t always convenient if you have to make sure your car is plugged in or if you have to scrape windows each morning or if you have to scramble for a car pool; is a lot less relaxing than letting someone else drive, especially in winter; and has a much larger carbon footprint than jumping on-board one of those new, sleek biodiesel buses.

So, let’s all get on board this environmental way to travel and support Roam.
