A belated thank you to all the good Samaritans that helped me out last Dec. 2.

I was almost home from my trip into Calgary when I found my car had slid into the snow at the bottom of the exit ramp. It was not in the best of locations as far as traffic went. To say the least, I was a little upset but then things quickly started looking up.

First, thank you to the people who just stopped, slowed down and asked if I was OK and could they do something. Then there were the five special people who really helped turn things around.

There was a gentleman who was out watching for traffic and retrieved my warning triangle. A cab driver came over and immediately took the shovel from me and continued to dig out the front of the car. He also offered to drive my car out, which I quickly accepted.

Another amazing saviour was the gentleman who went home to change vehicles so he could try towing me out. And finally the couple who had stopped and put out my warning triangle for cars coming down the ramp. They left so he could drop off his partner and said he would be back but not before giving me his gloves to use while I was shoveling. (The car was on a “slight” angle and tricky to get in and out of).

I did wait for you to come back, but I finally had to leave. I still have your gloves and would like to get them back to you. Please call Joyce at 403-678-5305 so I can return them.

In the end, with everyone working together, my car came out very easily and I was able to get home. My trunk was full with the usual winter extras – parka, Sorel boots, clothes, food, shovel and emergency car kit. Little did I know that some items would come in handy while I was so close to home.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get any names, but if you are reading this, please know how grateful I am to every one of you.

Throughout my life, I have found many good people in areas across Canada and the U.S. It is so nice to know that there is an abundance of people in this valley who are willing to stop and help those finding themselves in need.

Thank you and Merry Christmas.

Joyce Peart,

Canmore
