Editor: Thank you Mayor Sorenson for blasting Parks Canada on the 2017 free passes.
As a Canmore resident, not only am I concerned about the great increase in tourist traffic this summer, but about how are we going to fill the coffers for the things that really matter – monetary support for the wildlife that make the Bow Valley their home, and the upkeep required for them as well as the increased tourism.
As a longtime Albertan, I am willing to pay my share, which for an annual pass is very reasonable. Any tourists that I have encountered feel the same since Banff National Park is one of the premier destinations in the world.
Someone should have a word with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Environment Minister Catherine McKenna about reconsidering this decision.
