Thankful to be Canmorites

Editor: We would like to add our voice to the many people who are thanking the emergency response teams and equipment operators for the heroic work they did during the flood. They worked long and difficult hours as long as it was needed.

We would like to add our voice to the many people who are thanking the emergency response teams and equipment operators for the heroic work they did during the flood.

They worked long and difficult hours as long as it was needed.

It was great to see them all represented in the Canada Day parade, so we could shout out our thanks.

We were in Ontario when we heard the news and, although we returned to Calgary the same day, of course we had to remain in Calgary for a few days. During that time, we cannot give enough thanks to our neighbours who called twice a day with updates, our friends in Canmore who kept in touch, our friends in Calgary who looked after us, and even friends and relatives from all corners of the world who were concerned about the residents of Canmore.

And a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Town of Canmore and their awesome website and hotline. The constantly updated information on the website was like a lifeline to us, and was written in a very caring and human tone.

We have lived in Canmore for 26 years and have always felt a strong sense of community – we think that just got stronger.

Ron and Evelyn Matthews,

Canmore
