I met Marie when we were in elementary school in the early ’70s. I remember the day vividly as I came home to tell my mother about the girl I had met while skipping at recess in the schoolyard.

She explained to me (as only mothers can) that Marie was no different. You see, Marie is a thalidomide survivor; one of only about 90 Canadian survivors. She has virtually no arms and only small hands with three fingers on each.

This is what makes her Marie’s 150 I Did It Campaign all the more amazing.

Nothing has ever stood in her way. As a proud Canadian she has chosen to mark Canada’s 150 anniversary by completing this skiing challenge. RMAC has been by her side the entire way.

While living in Canmore I had the pleasure to become acquainted with this incredible organization. I have been inspired and privileged to follow her journey these past months and honoured to call her my friend.
