Kudos to the landfill and K-Country. I have been climbing off and on for about 30 years on the cliffs of Goat Mountain, beside Yamnuska. My usual approach goes by the Francis Cook Landfill and it has often been depressing walking through red stained trees decorated with hundreds of prayer flags/ shopping bags and other garbage.

So I was very impressed to walk through there on Sunday (May 25) morning and find it almost immaculate. Almost no garbage, no prayer flags and the landfill looks really well organized and somehow lower impact.

I understand that a group from Kananaskis Country had done an annual cleanup in the forest downwind of the landfill and that the staff from Bow Valley Waste Management now do regular cleanups outside the fence.

Whoever it was – many thanks for the nice work.
