Question: If you were walking in downtown Calgary and came across a construction site with fences, barricades and notices prohibiting entry, would you be walking around inside there?

Probably not. Well, in case you haven’t noticed, Cougar Creek is temporarily a construction site, complete with fences, barricades and notices prohibiting entry, and yet people are totally ignoring this and walking there anyway.

It is impossible to put fences along the entire length of the creek, on both sides – and in any case, this would not stop those who are already breaking down, moving, or otherwise ignoring what has currently been put there.

People: Cougar Creek is closed. This applies whether the workers are there or not, so please respect this. And it’s no excuse to say “It’s OK, I live there.” It’s not OK, and you don’t live on the public land (which is closed), so please stay on your own property – defined by those little stakes with the orange-painted tops – until the area is opened again. You are trespassing on a construction site, which could have legal repercussions.

The whole area, on both sides of the creek, from the Trans-Canada Highway up to the old dam site, is temporarily closed (It’s not like there’s nowhere else to walk in Canmore).
