Too much litter

Editor: We live close to Policeman’s Creek and there’s a lovely spot there with a bench that we like to bring our family to, to play in the creek and enjoy the beauty of the town that we live in.

There are many other people who enjoy taking time at this spot. It makes me sad to see the amount of garbage that is left around that bench.

In this day and age where we know that smoking is bad for humans and littering is bad for the environment, how is it still common practice for cigarette butts to be left all along the pathways?

Cigarette butts are still garbage and are not exempt from being carried out with you and thrown into appropriate garbage bins. Also, the amount of times we find beer bottles and cans (sometimes broken ones) is far too often. We picked up the plastic rings from a sixpack the other day; again, one of those things that we know are terrible to leave lying around, especially in an area where wildlife live.

Please, when you’re sitting at Policeman’s Creek (or any other location in our beautiful town), please consider our children, the animals and our environment before you drop the remnants of your outing on the ground.
