Who uses our roads?

Is it really cyclists, motorists and pedestrians as distinct entities? We see children being driven, cycling or walking to school; friends driving in from Calgary and walking with us downtown and residents driving to work, then cycling to Elevation Place or walking around town to complete errands.

In reality, we, as a community fit into all three categories – and are now fortunate to have added public transit as a fourth mode.

Our research in conjunction with our community partners has shown that Canmore roads are five times safer than the national average, while 15 times more children cycle to Lawrence Grassi School than a typical school in North America. These are things to celebrate, indicative of what we value as a community, and why we all choose to live here.
