One person has died on a popular cycling path in Banff National Park Saturday morning (Sept. 2).

BANFF NATIONAL PARK – One person has died on a popular cycling path in Banff National Park Saturday morning (Sept. 2).

The death occurred on the paved Legacy Trail, about seven few kilometres west of the Banff East Gate.

“EMS paramedics determined an adult to be deceased on the bike path, which parallels Highway 1,” said Alberta Health Services EMS spokesperson Adam Loria in an email.

Loria added EMS was notified at approximately 11:30 a.m. of the incident.

EMS, RCMP and Banff Fire Department were on scene.

No further information has been released at this time. The Outlook will update when more information becomes available.
