BANFF – RCMP have arrested and charged a man in connection with a robbery at Banff IGA last week.

Police had released a photo and called for the public’s help in identifying a man believed responsible for displaying bear spray to dissuade staff who tried to stop him from stealing beverages on Jan. 26.

Then, on the evening of Friday (Jan. 29), RCMP located and arrested Craig Muyser, 47, of Canmore, in connection with the robbery and upon warrants associated with prior offences in Banff and Edmonton.

Police say he was also identified in connection with four additional thefts from Banff businesses in January.

Muyser has been charged with robbery, possessing weapon for a dangerous purpose, theft not exceeding $5,000 and failing to comply with a release order.

He has been remanded in custody pending a court appearance on Wednesday (Feb. 3) in Canmore Provincial Court.
