“We’re really happy, we’re really optimistic and really hopeful to see this known solution to this known problem. … This is a landscape that’s very busy and wildlife need all the help they can get."

“The independent investigator would assess the reasons given by the complainant and FOIP regulations to determine if the name of the complainant can be released, in confidence, to the respondent member of council,” said Jason Darrah, the director of communications for the Town of Banff.

“When they look at a price like this within our Banff Housing Corporation portfolio, it would be tough to get in at this type of price,” said Mayor Corrie DiManno.

“It is so competitive now. The HR people are responsible for rate of pay but they have been asking management and ownership more and more about paying more. Now, they are coming back to us and jobs that were paying $18 [per hour] are paying $20 or $21. It is definitely going upwards.”

"Now is not the time to raise fees that substantially, up to two times for full service,” said Banff Mayor Corrie DiManno

“This is going to create more chaos and it will make it more difficult to find more doctors and fill those staffing shortages,” said David Shepherd, NDP Critic for Health. “What health care worker wants to come to work in a province where they see the government views our health care workers as disposable.”

“It is one of the last remaining examples of early residential cottages in Banff along the riverfront lots,” said Joel Piecowye, of Shugarmann Architecture and Design.

“Bans, when used strategically as part of this integrated approach, are just an important next tool to establish community expectations," said Peter Duck, regional coordinator of Bow Valley Waste Management Commission

“These guys are in danger, but they are really, really cryptic and hard to study,” said Barb Johnston, the species at risk biologist overseeing the black swift project in Banff National Park.

“Either you believe in the ‘environmental’ agenda or you don’t. You have to be one or the other,” said resident Gary Doyle.
