Biathlon Canada announced its two teams for the World Youth Junior Championships, which will be made up of many biathletes training in Canmore.

“We have about 9,000 residents [in Banff], who, in conjunction with our local businesses, pay the cost of those four million visitors flushing toilets and using wastewater treatment,” said Banff Mayor Corrie DiManno. “They pay for the thousands of hours of garbage collection and recycling sorting needed for the roads and sidewalks that support up to 40,000 people a day in the summertime.”

“It was a no brainer to dedicate my first biathlon win to him. I know he was watching over me that day.”

“Canmore and Banff detachments worked in close collaboration to bring this investigation to its successful resolution,” said Staff Sergeant Ryan Singleton, the detachment commander of Canmore RCMP in a news release.

“Unfortunately, two of our patients had to present at Foothills, and although they were understanding, they were sad and distraught they had to deliver at Foothills."

“There’s a term in skiing and it goes like this: ‘either you’re going to eat or you’re going to get eaten’".

“Development continues at a quick pace in the valley. We don’t want to lose those places and buildings that tell important stories and ground our community.”

Local biathletes are ready for the world championships starting Wednesday.

“Our climate is changing and if we are not ahead of it, then we are behind it. We need to make sure we are planning for the future and we have provisions in place to help reduce our impact on climate change and then to consider how different our climate might be in the Bow Valley.”
