BANFF - Aggressive coyotes have prompted a warning for people to be careful in the Banff townsite.

BANFF - Aggressive coyotes have prompted a warning for people to be careful in the Banff townsite.

The circumstances leading to the warning were not immediately available; however, the warning covers an area that includes Glen Avenue, Spray Avenue, Mountain Avenue, Mountain Lane and Kootenay Avenue.

"Special caution is recommended when travelling in this area," according to the warning posted Tuesday (June 5).

Parks advises people to pay attention for coyotes when travelling in this area; keep dogs on leash as well as keep all food, garbage and dog food secured indoors or inside vehicles.

Report all coyote sightings immediately to the Banff Visitor Centre or Banff Dispatch at 403-762-1470.
