A 26-year-old man is being charged with attempted murder after an alleged stabbing last month near Seebe.

Ty David Poucette from Stoney Nakoda First Nation was charged with one count of attempted murder and made a second appearance in Canmore Provincial Court for bail hearing on Aug. 30, but an agent for his lawyer Rebecca Snukal adjourned it until Sept. 13.

Late in the evening on Aug. 20, EMS responded to Willow Rock Campground, off Highway 1X, to assist a man with injuries consistent with being stabbed, said Stuart Brideaux, Alberta Health Services spokesperson.

The injured man, 28, also from Stoney Nakoda, was airlifted in serious condition to Calgary Foothills Medical Centre by STARS air ambulance just after midnight (Aug. 21).

The man was allegedly injured in an altercation with another man in a vehicle on Highway 1. The injured man then walked to the campground for assistance.

Police say the two men are known to each other and the next day, Cochrane RCMP arrested Poucette and he was charged following an investigation.
